Performing Arts - Auditions / Interviews 2009 - 2010
Auditions/interviews help determine the student's abilities as an aspiring theatre artist and career potential. As well, it is an opportunity for both the student and faculty member to measure if the program and college are a proper fit for one another.
Auditions/interviews require an appointment in advance of the requested location, date and time. Contact John Weckesser, Chair Performing Arts Department jweck@csf.edu or 505 473.6438.
The Performing Arts Department seeks students interested in acting, scene design, costume design, lighting design, theater technology, stage management and theatre management. We also offer a minor in Dance (no audition required).
Auditions/interviews should include one or more of the following:
-
Audition – Actors should prepare two memorized 2 – 3 minute monologues from a contemporary play or, with appropriate experience and comfort, a classic play. Music Theatre majors prepare 1 monologue and one verse from a Broadway musical. The student must provide recorded musical accompaniment and bring a CD/DVD and player.
-
Portfolio Review – Stage managers, designers and technicians should present examples of work in the form of photographs, prompt-books, slides and/or drawings of productions on which the student has worked. Examples of related skills (sewing, construction, drawing, etc) are also helpful. Students interested in Theatre Management should present a comprehensive resume and any photographs or example of completed projects or plan documents.
-
Interview – All prospective students will interview with the Department Chair and/or a faculty member to assess skills and mutually prospective fit. Interviews allow students to talk with a faculty member informally and discover what the College of Santa Fe and the student have to offer each other.
